Expedition Inspire

There are often parts of us that look back and wished we could run wild and free. There is something about the traveling spirit that resonates in us. I have never let that go.

My name is Rich Brand and I am out to explore, document, and reach our society in a way that has rarely been done before in modern times.

In early 2016 I will begin a yearlong expedition sea kayaking the entire eastern half of the United States and parts of Canada. I will be starting in New Orleans. I will paddle around Florida, past Maine and Nova Scotia to the St. Lawrence River. I will then paddle upstream to the Great Lakes, arrive in Chicago to catch the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers back to New Orleans. There will be one person doing this trip in 2016...me!
 
I am asking for your support to help cover food costs on this expedition. It will help sustain me as I fully document this expedition. I will have all the gear to successfully complete this trip before I launch.

This means the world to me because I believe that there is an opportunity to be the role model I wish I had when I was younger. I will be reaching out to school aged children, at-risk youth, and adults needing that little extra motivation or inspiration to chase their dreams. I will do this through motivational speaking opportunities up and down the coast and through my daily interactions with the great people I meet.

Last summer I paddled from Seattle to San Diego and in 2013 I did the Mississippi River from source to sea!
