Captian Koy’s Boat Rescue

On the 4 October 2019 the FYEA Amelia Jane, Captain Andrew Koy’s main boat sunk.

It was only the day before that my sister Kacy Koy and my dad well on this fishing boat heading out to sea for a week, after 4 hours of steaming, theyhad to turn around due to engine difficulties, the Amelia Jane, named after my sister and I (our middle names) was then found the next morning nearly fully submerged in the Hull River, Mission beach
 The reason for it sinking is still unknown 



This tragedy has completely shocked our family and it is so heartbreaking considering my dad has had that boat for the most of our lives. The memories that we have shared and our upbringing  so greatly including the Amelia Jane has made a significant impact to the heartache that we have felt but more importantly the fact that this is my dad‘s main fishing vessel, has put a major strain on him as he was already in financial hardship. As Andrew, my father has been a commercial trout fisherman with his own vessels for over 30 years, it is so important to get this boat refurbished and in working order again so that my family can continue on having an income and a roof over their heads .

The boat can somewhat be salvaged but the engine and other main aspects will be completely ruined.


For those that you who know my father know that he is such a kind, gentle, friendly generous man who has always given to the community and who has always been overly generous to anyone that he has crossed paths with, from giving away fresh Fish (which is a part of his sales) to people who he has just met on the wharf,to helping friends out whenever they need or call, he has always been there for those who need no matter how much it put him out 

This go fund me page is to give back to him and to help him through this heartbreaking time of losing his main fishing vessel, the engine alone will be over 20k, we are such a prideful family and to ask for help is very hard, but I believe that no matter how small, every donation counts,
