Stanton County Commissioner Dist 1

Donation protected
Hello Everyone, my name is Zygmunt Orlowski and I am running for Stanton County Commissioner, Stanton County District #1. Many of you may know me from my service with Hoskins/Woodland Park Fire-Rescue. Others may know me from my Wife’s and my sponsorship of the Woodland Park Santa Claus tour that has been held every year since we moved to Stanton County in 2015. Yet even more may know of me from my passion of restoring and operating vintage military vehicles. I also led the opposition against having wind turbines in Stanton County. I am not a career politician, nor have I cared to be highly involved in politics for the better part of my life; but let’s just say that my eyes have really been opened over the last year as to the workings of our County.

Now, call me old-fashioned, but I strongly feel that an elected leader is there for one purpose-- to represent and protect all their constituents. Unfortunately, many residents and I do not see that here. In recent months, there have been many questions raised: Why isn't the county being forthright with all the residents regarding issues within the county? Why are county meetings not being officially audio/video recorded and notated? Why aren't the constituents adequately being told when/where meetings are being held? Why are the meetings (which per the open meetings act, are for the people) being held at odd times like 8am on a Monday morning or 1:30 pm on a Wednesday afternoon (when most people cannot attend due to work)? Where is the public disclosure of potential monetary gain by elected officials? Why is nothing being done about the arrogant misuse of County resources? Why do County Officials feel that they can retaliate against individuals who dare question their malfeasance? It doesn't matter where you sit on any of the myriad of issues this County faces-- it doesn't matter what your financial status is, what your background is, what your ethnicity, religion, or affiliations are, etc.-- if you live here, pay taxes here, and call this place your home, then you should have protections, representations, and above all a voice. After all, this is Stanton, not Stalingrad.........

The above ultimately led to my decision to run. As I said earlier, I am not a politician-- I despise how in many cases politics, power, and money blackens hearts. But I also realize that in order to effect any change, I have to confront the very thing I despise head on-- and that is what I am doing here. I want to see everyone in this county have their rights protected and voices heard. I want to see everyone fairly and adequately informed of actions being taken within the county which might affect them. I want thorough accountability, transparency, and integrity when it comes to anything pertaining to the public trust. I want every resident, official, politician, and corporation alike to know that the true leader is one who puts their constituents before everything else, even if doing so comes at a cost to themselves-- that is the sort of honor that many politicians nowadays have little intimate knowledge thereof. Most importantly, I want to see the abuses and impropriety by certain entrenched members of the current administration brought down once and for all. I moved here with my wife because we fell in love with Stanton County-- we want to prosper here, raise our son here, and ultimately grow old here. In the coming weeks, I plan to visit as many households in District #1 as I can and look my constituents directly in the eye-- I won’t make wild campaign promises as so many do and fail to deliver-- what I will promise you though is my loyalty, integrity, transparency, and commitment-- those are mine and solely mine to give. I will not be bought, I will not be intimidated, and no one, not even the national guard will sway me from my primary mission—representing YOU, the resident.

I am asking you, the residents of Stanton County to invest in me with your vote. I am asking each and every one of you to afford me the chance to make a positive impact on how our County Government operates. Together then, we can carve out a piece of “the good life” that each and every one of us rightly deserves……..
