Cancer Treatment Funds for Nikolay

$1,530 of $35,000 goal

Nikolay Lukinov is fighting stage 4 prostate cancer and we're asking for help to pay for his desperately needed treatment.  He is currently being treated at the CIPAG clinic in Tijuana, Mexico which has a great track record of treating, and very often curing their patients of cancer.  He has been there for 1 week so far on a 28 day treatment program.  The doctor says that he still has a fighting chance to reverse the cancer progression.

The base cost for the 28 day treatment is $9,000.  This covers all medical expenses including consultation, lab work, imaging, medication, etc.  He is also having to pay for housing, food, and airfare which adds another approximately $2,500 - $3,500 to the total (flying from Alaska).  So far, expenses have been covered partially by credit card, but a majority of the expenses are still needing to be paid.

The decision to go to this clinic was made very quickly after his diagnosis, therefore, he has no return airline ticket home because we didn't know what the return date was going to be.

If treatment is successful this time around, he will need to do this again in 3 months and then 6 months later.  Total cost will be around $35,000 - $40,000.   The expenses are adding up and our family is asking for your generous support to help pay for his treatment expenses.  Alternatively, if it's possible, airline miles would be a welcome donation to cover airfare to and from San Diego, CA (a 20 minute drive from the clinic).  In lieu of donations, we would ask that you keep him in your prayers.  Thank you!

Just talked to pops yesterday. He is doing well and feeling a lot better than on day 1. No longer does he need the pain patch to get through the day. His PSA numbers have drastically been reduced to only 68! He is also sticking to his strict diet as ordered by his doctor. Overall, good news! While we like the direction this treatment is going and are very grateful, we know that we aren't out of the woods yet. We want to genuinely thank everyone for your continued support and prayers! Please share pop's story in an effort to help raise the funds needed to continue his treatment in the coming months. Thank you again!

Update from Pops today. The treatment seems to be working! He is feeling better and is gaining a little weight back with the new strict diet that the doctor put him on. His PSA numbers have fallen drastically to just over 400! This would seem to indicate that the cancer progression is rapidly declining. We are happy to see the results working in his favor!

Pops and our family is greatly appreciative of the ongoing support from family, friends, as well as the generous support of the many kind people who have helped in many different ways throughout this process. His treatment will need to continue though, so we're not out of the woods yet. Please continue to share his story so we can try to see Pops through to the end of this (optimistically) successful treatment. If you're able to donate to Pops treatment and care, we all are very grateful! Thoughts and prayers are also very welcome even if you're unable to donate. Thank you!

Just an update about Pops (Nikolay is my Father-in-law whom I call Pops) progress at the CIPAG Cancer Clinic. I talked to him just a little bit ago. It's been about a week and a half down at the clinic and he reports that he is feeling better than when he arrived. The doctor is starting an additional therapy process over the next couple days. He'll have another blood test at the end of this week to help gauge if the current treatment is working. Looking at the PSA numbers from his blood test, his last result showed a rapid progression with an astronomically high number at over 1100. Normal numbers for his age should be maximum of 8! We're hopeful that the therapy is working and his next test will reflect that. His wife, Nina, is back home in Alaska worrying about him very much. She is unable to fly down there to be with him. Nikolay is her sole caretaker and husband of 44 years. She is disabled (partially paralyzed after a severe stroke) as well as a type 2 diabetic. We've been praying for Pops to get better, and for Mom to gain strength to help her stress levels and blood pressure. More updates to come! It's always hard to ask people for help. I want to thank you for reading and helping if you're able! Take care all...
