Cancer threw a us curveball........

In July, 2016 Pete (Dad) went to do a routine annual check-up and in August we found out that it was indeed Stage 4 Prostate Cancer, the fast spreading one.   His PSA level had increased to 24 during the last year since his last physical (previous levels had been at the level of 2).   Over the next year, his PSA would grow to 52, 118, and now up to around 1900.  The cancer has spread to his bones, pelvic area, lymph nodes and entire body. 

Our plan all along was to beat this cancer in the fanny and keep Pete on the field, at work and with his family.  That unfortunately is not our reality.

This was very shocking, as nothing can happen to Pete....Right?  He is the energizer bunny!    My mom has left no stone unturned and Pete was a trooper, he tried EVERYTHING!!!  My mom has dedicated her life to my dad as they have been married for over 43 years.....and due to the rigorous treatments and what was soon to come, he retired 2-3 years early.  This has caused a lot of extra expenses that have turned into a financial burden.   What was saved, has been used to try to kick this cancer in the behind and survive.  In this time, I want my mom not to worry about how she can afford groceries, juggle the bills, but concentrate on being with my dad.  Jon (my brother) is living with them and has been helpful, but he also still needs special care.  (disabled son)

I arrived late this last Thursday night (technically 1 am Friday) and Pete (Dad) had not eaten in 5 days, just was drinking some Ensure and Hospice has been involved about two weeks ago.  He is on morphine now, barely talks and is bed ridden.  Anything will help and we want to give Pete the gift to let him know that his family will not have a financial burden and will be taken care of.  We are so grateful that you all are in our lives.  In any other circumstance, Pete would never ask for help, as I am for my dad.  God bless you and we love you all.
