MY STORY
Hello and welcome to my College Fund Campaing. My name is Camila Cruz, a college level Architecture major student from Humacao, Puerto Rico, currently enrolled in the California College of the Arts.

I'm currently working very hard to complete my degree with dreams of becoming a practicioner to develop sustainable architecture and environmental design/architecture projects.

TRANSFER TO CCA
Barely seven months ago I was a student at the University of Puerto Rico. Just in the middle of the semester Hurricane Maria hit and devastated my Island. With very limited resources, no water, electricity, and very little food, to continue studying under those conditions became way too challenging.

In order to continue with my professional development I had to suddenly decide to do a college transfer in order to continue my studies in Architecture. The infrastructure's destruction after the catastrophe made me realize how much more I wanted to contribute as a professional in the future, designing buildings that could stand hurricane conditions and designing structures that could provide better shelter. With that drive in my heart, encouragement from the people of Puerto Rico, the help of great friends in New York and the assistance of the American Institute of Architects AIA, I was connected with institutions that were opening their doors to students from Puerto Rico that had been affected by the hurricane. I was accepted in the California College of the Arts and with much sacrifice and hope enrolled and relocated to San Francisco, California.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT
As this process came as a sudden transition I had very little time to identify any financial sources. Even after adding up scholarship, grants, student loans and contributions from my family to help cover the costs of tuition, room and board. I'm falling short of covering room and board, art supplies and living expenses. This is why I humbly ask for your support of any monetary contribution.

I'm a very resilient, commited and determined student with big dreams of accomplishing great things. I'd appreciate any help you could provide, even if it's by sharing this campaing with your family and friends.

I will only use this money to pay off my semester's balance and study during the summer.

Thank you for your time and support!

Much love,
Camila
