Cameron and Emma Fundraiser

The Nagel family is an amazing family who is in need of financial help. They have two children who both have extreme medical needs. This family has gone through a lot, and struggle every day with financial, emotional and physical hardships. When their oldest daughter Emma was just five years old, the Nagels welcomed their second daughter, Sophia, in to the world. Tragically, just three days later, their beautiful Sophia suddenly passed away. The cause is just the beginning of the Nagels' intense medical journey with Emma and Cameron.

The Nagels are currently in need of a home that suits and can accommodate the special and extensive needs of the children. The house they currently live in is not functional for them, and they would also like to be closer to hospitals and family.

Due to the special medical needs of the children, there are some house requirements that come with extreme expenses. Some of these include, but are not limited to:

· A house with no carpets, so the wheelchairs can move with ease within the house.
· Special doors so the children can get in and out of their rooms with ease
· A larger bathroom including a handicap shower stall and commode
· Ramps for the house and vehicle

With the ongoing medical expenses (over $3000 per month) including medications, supplies and equipment, the family struggles with day-to-day living. The Nagels have applied for grants and other funding, but it is extremely limited.

A few of us started a small committee to see what we can do to help this family.

Right now we are trying to raise money so they can move into a functioning home. As the children grow, it becomes harder and harder to lift them and accommodate their needs. They are a beautiful family and we need to find them a home where they can grow.

Meet Emma:

Emma is the oldest sibling, and a truly beautiful young lady. She has a very caring nature, and always wants to help where she can. Emma is 13 years old, and suffers from a disease called MCADD, which affects the way her body breaks down fatty acids. She also has Complex 1 Mitochondrial Disease, and unfortunately these two diseases work against each other, and have opposite treatments. Because of this treatments are difficult and often experimental, which limits funding. She is the only known case in the world to have both diseases. These diseases cause her body to fatigue quickly, and she is in constant pain. She recently had to give up dancing because of the toll it took on her body. She now uses a wheelchair or walker when it is to painful to walk.

Meet Cameron:

Six-year-old Cameron is a fun loving boy with a fabulous sense of humour. At one year old, they started noticing some developmental delays. His medical conditions include Spina Bifida, a tethered spinal cord, and Muscular Dystrophy. He suffers from a great deal of pain, causing frequent falls. The pain makes it difficult for this little boy to walk, and he depends on his wheelchair and daddy’s shoulders. There have been some other occurring medical complications, and the family has recently discovered he has a structural defect on his larynx and have also found a hole in his heart, which needs to be monitored.

Both children are currently being tested for ongoing medical issues, unrelated to their current diagnosis.

We are hoping that this family can move into a home that is functional. The upgrades required are expensive, but necessary for day-to-day activities. They need to be closer to hospitals, as well as closer to the helping hands of family and friends. The simple adjustments in the home can help alleviate stress and time, so they can focus on the important aspects of life, like creating beautiful memories with their children.
