Calliope Paperie Fundraiser

Donation protected
On Sunday, March 19th, an out of control car careened through the front window of Kristina Burkey's card and gift shop, Calliope Paperie. Thankfully, no one was in the store at the time and no one was hurt elsewhere in the building.  The front window, with her hand drawn rainbow sign and glittery rain clouds came crashing in, covering half of the store and most of her beautiful cards and gifts in a layer of dust, dirt and shattered glass.

Calliope Paperie will be closed indefinitely until the building is repaired and things are sorted out. The online shop will be also closed for now as everything in the store needs to be inventoried and compromised product (very sadly) tossed out. Please check the website/fb/ig for more info as to when it may open back up. If you knew/loved/talked to KB for five minutes, you know how much this store meant to her. She has thrown all of herself (and most of her husband) into this store: blood, sweat and tears. There are not too many cushions when you're a small business owner and your business is taken away from you in three seconds. Obviously she is heartbroken, devastated and unsure about the future. It will be a while before Calliope can open again and until then, we're all here to help lift her up.

This little light of a store in Natick center may have been open less than a year, but it was a dream a decade in the making. Kristina has busted her butt forever to bring Calliope to fruition.  Years of hard work, trying new things navigating the stationEry industry, plotting, planning and all the "when I have a store one day" conversations finally turned into "OMG I'M OPENING A STORE!!!" ...and what a store she opened. Filled to the brim with gorgeosness, she really made it a special place to go. Not only beautiful, she stocked the shelves with lots of amazing handmade and local items. Everything from candles that the Natick maker walks down to Calliope with a cart to hand letterpressed cards from multiple shops right here in MA to mint and light pink knitted gloves her mom makes to match Calliope's decor. She curated quite a collection of amazing things from small brands, a lot of them made right here at home.

The floor has been swept and the front window has been boarded up. We anxiously await the witty words that will grace the plywood if her famous sandwich sign messages are any indication of what's to come. The storefront will eventually be repaired and the doors will open once again. Then we will have cake. Lots of cake. Until then, please pitch in if you can to help get Calliope back up and running!
