Help CADEkids help Kids!
We need your support to reach 3,000 more students!
CADEkids Serves Where Needs are the Greatest!
A child's neighborhood should not define or limit their dreams for a full and healthy life. Each year, CADEkids teaches and mentors over 9,000 Philadelphia public school kids in underserved communities to steer clear of drug and alcohol abuse, violence, and problem gambling addictions.
CADEkids' Prevention Specialist Khareema Thomas walks by needles and drug paraphernalia on her way to school in North Philadelphia – the same streets and sidewalks that her 5th grade students take each day. Khareema teaches kids about the toll substance abuse takes on the body, mind, family, and community life.
Seven CADEkids' Prevention Specialists currently serve 34 Philadelphia public schools and teach more than 9,000 kids the life skills necessary to understand their emotions, make smart decisions, avoid substance use, and resolve conflicts peacefully.
We start at the beginning...
As early as Kindergarten, students like Jamie know how to disrupt classrooms and frustrate their teachers. Specialist Mister Raines teaches kids evidence-based lessons on how to be calm and identify their feelings, week after week, to lead more peaceful lives.
We teach consistent prevention messages
CADEkids teaches students that they are "Too Good for Drugs, Violence, and Bullying." Specialists provide "tool kits" at each grade level, to build on the previous year's lessons. Prevention messages are clear, consistent, and relatable!
We mentor students to reach their goals
Specialist Tony Smith helps students set goals and overcome setbacks. We teach personal responsibility and making proactive choices. Tony has attended 8th grade graduations and also keeps in touch with students post high school to encourage them to stay on track.
