Caddo Domestic Violence Shelter

PCI is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides direct services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our agency operates the PCI DV Shelter located in Caddo Parish. We have received a grant that has allowed our agency to purchase a building to be converted into a safe shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence. Currently we are renting a shelter that fits most of our needs but we require more space in order to ensure no DV survivor is turned away in there time of need. Unfortunately we have seen an increase in the number of women seeking shelter and need a shelter that provides more rooms. Our shelter is staffed 24/7 to ensure survivors have access to safe housing. We provide hundreds of survivors with services during the year.

The grant we received allowed for us to purchase a building to be renovated to fit our needs. While the grant covers roughly 75% of the cost, our agency must provide 25% of the cost as matching funds. The funds would be used to supplement the construction cost above what the grant covers, purchase furniture for the shelter, purchase playground equipment for the backyard, and a privacy fence for security. Construction has begun with a projected finish time close to the end of this year.
