Help reverse climate change! Help preserve rare, threatened heirloom cacao!
Join Antonio Marxuach, founder of Pura Vida Chocolate*, a purveyor of fine Costa Rican chocolate, who has been bestowed a generous matching grant to help us plant 500 cacao trees and 2,000-3,000 support trees/plants (per hectare) on our Regenerative cacao farm Granja Ventolera de la Nuez, in San Gerardo, Costa Rica! This dollar-per-dollar pledge will allow us to raise enough money to plant 1-2 hectares (~2.5-5 acres) of a bio-diverse "food forest". The elegant genius of Regenerative cacao farming is that it closely mimics Nature's ecosystems and has shown to be the most effective farming system for pulling CO2 out of the atmosphere!
According to our friends at the Regen Network we'll be able to sequester approximately 1.4 metric-tons of CO2 from the atmosphere for every hectare of land we plant in Regenerative cacao in year one. By year 20 our mature cacao orchards can take out of the atmosphere 18 metric-tons of CO2 per year, for every hectare planted! We have 15-hectares which will eventually all be under Regenerative cultivation.
The fact that we can also grow nutritious foods and heirloom cacao for fine chocolate makes this project a win-win! Please join us in supporting a project which has the capacity to truly make a difference.
