Rich and Katie's medical expenses

My little brother and his wife Katie have been through the wringer.

Rich was diagnosed with lymphoma a few months ago, but chemo hadn't started yet. About 3 weeks ago, Katie fell and broke bones in her hip and leg. A week after her fall, Rich started hallucinating and was rushed to the hospital where a brain stem tumor was found. He is now receiving treatment for the tumor, chemo for the lymphoma, and the latest is his kidneys are acting up and he may need dialysis. So many problems in such a short time for a man not even 50 years old yet!

Katie is hindered by the broken leg and hip (as well as other medical problems), though she is helping as much as she can. She is sleeping in a small reclining chair in the tiny hospital room. Rich hasn't worked in months, has no sick leave, and they are just barely making it. Once Rich is discharged, he will need at least a part-time caregiver. Their medical bills are in the stratosphere already. 

We're hoping to raise enough money to pay for their rent and for a part-time caregiver to help relieve Katie, with the remainder being used to pay down medical bills, buy gas (they are 45 minutes away from the nearest hospital), and keep their other bills at bay. These two are loving and caring wonderful people who wouldn’t hesitate to help others. They’ve hit a huge patch of bad luck and need to be reminded that they are loved. Any amount would be GREATLY appreciated!
