Dog hit by car

*posting for a friend* “Working out in the middle of farmlands in Arvin, I’ve never seen so many stray dogs - I’ve even brought one home.  I saw a German shepherd mix in our parking lot in the rain one day. She came to me, but then ran away. Then, I saw her two weeks later (3/7/19), lying curled up on the side of the road.  She had been hit by a car and left there, while many cars drove around her. There was a severely large gash on her side and she was in a lot of pain.  After talking it over with my husband, we decided to take it into our own hands to try to help.  We took her to the emergency vet in Bakersfield. They were shocked at how gentle she was. They said she was savable, she would make it. Looking into those tired eyes, we decided to give her a second chance.”

"Unfortunately in our Society too many people dump dogs in the middle of nowhere. My wife ran across this dog on the side of the road ran over by a car and left to die. Even the person who hit her didn't bother to stop to help. I didn't have the heart to put her down because she can make it with some surgeries. We're going to start a GoFundMe page for her. We named her Xena at the vet.. we didn't like them calling her a stray dog.. it's heartbreaking how dogs are just thrown away. There are many people out there willing to adopt dogs, shelters are willing to accept them with no questions asked .. It just doesn't make any sense?? We should all be smarter than this!! She went into surgery on 3/8/2019 the long road to recovery starts then. We will be doing most of the recovery on our own but at the end of this road we would like to have her adopted out."

She’s had surgery in LA.  She will need months to heal. Her tail was detached inside.  She has fractures and break, along with the gaping wound where the tire tore off her skin.

---This go fund me is to raise the funds that came out of pocket to save this sweet girl. It was definitely done out of the heart, but as many know, the surgeries for injuries as such are extremely costly. The recovery for her will be covered by the couple that saved her. This page is also to raise awareness to the dog abandonment problem. People are dumping dogs more frequently, and we see the results of it right in front of our eyes, but seem to be blind to it. Thank you, everyone.
