Addressing the issue of sexual violence within the humanitarian and development community

Sexual violence in the humanitarian and development industry is pervasive. 86% of humanitarians currently report knowing a colleague who has experienced sexual violence. 

The work of Report the Abuse is the first attempt to begin addressing the issue of sexual violence within the humanitarian and development community.

We began last year, after our Founder and Director, Megan Nobert, had an experience with sexual violence while working as a humanitarian in South Sudan , and a growing recognition that the problem was much larger than that one experience.

How do we tackle this problem? Through providing a safe space for survivors. Through advocacy and awareness raising. Through working with the UN and NGOs to better prevent and respond sexual violence happening to their employees.
