Energy Efficient Car - STEM Effort
Donation protected
A group of university engineering students has designed a fuel efficient, lightweight car (less than 110 lbs!) made out of carbon fiber and aluminum (interior only, pictured). We have already been provided the material by an aerospace company, but are still struggling to find the cash to build the rest of the components!
The biggest thing about this project is we are not just building a car - we are building industry applicable engineers. A degree will teach you theory, but not standard drill sizes; how to read textbook after textbook, but not how to read product specifications. That is this project's goal. The design of the car is being supported by both a design and stress engineer in the industry and mentored by faculty at the university. The only thing left is to raise the money to buy materials and we are off to creating a better future - for both cars and engineers!! Anything helps! No donation is too small!
