BV Superheroes FLL Traveling!

FIRST LEGO League is an opportunity for students in our community to learn robotics and research skills, while developing an innovative solution to real world problems. Our students also learn to work together with each other and with other teams to solve problems. Our students understand working together with kindness and respect is a top priority, not only now, but in the rest of their lives, because, as one student claimed during the local competition, “You may not like the person you work with someday, but you still have to work with them.” The Buena Vista Superheroes walked in the holiday lights parade with the OteroSTEM Superheroes Float and were bell ringers for the Salvation Army during the holiday season. We have worked with other local FLL and FLLjr teams, while mentoring the Buena Vista FLLjr team. The students also presented their project to local NMSU-A students to earn feedback regarding their project.

On January 21st, 2017, the Buena Vista Elementary Superheroes won first place in Core Values at the Alamogordo FLL Qualifier. We were then invited to represent New Mexico FLL at the North American Invitational at LEGO Land in Carlsbad, California in May, 2017. To be invited to this event is an extreme honor and we would like to show California, and all who attend the event, what type of person comes out of Alamogordo, New Mexico. We are kind, respectful, trustworthy citizens who do our best every day. We have fun, but we know how to work hard too.

We are requesting donations to help us travel to California. We are hoping to raise at least $5000 for the traveling expenses, as well as hotel accommodations, entrance fees to the competition, food and drinks for each of the six team members and the four coaches. Any donation size will be extremely helpful to us reaching our goal.
