Enid Buzz Goes To Washington
A limited number of tickets to the inuaguration were given out in a lottery style drawing and I unexpectedley won without having prepared myself financially for the trip. This seems to be a once in a lifetime opportunity and being a local media guy I'm always looking for a story to cover for my audience.
The biggest cost of this trip will be the airline flight and travel expenses once in Washington D.C. One time Enid residents have offered to put me and an assitant up during my stay eliminating a large hotel expense.
The inauguration is Friday, January 20, 2017 but I have to be in Washington D.C. by Thursday, January 19, 2017 to pick up my tickets at Sen. Lankford's office. I need to book airline tickets as soon as possible to figure out how many days it will take me to get there and back.
I would love to take this opportunity to bring local coverage to such a grand event. Enid Buzz could be one of the only local small market media companies to actually attend the inauguration.
If at all possible I will try to bring back a souvenir for all that contribute. My goal is to make the trip no matter what but I would greatly appreciate any assistance just to assure it is financially feasible.
Thank you for reading!
The trip will be a quick 48 hour adventure. We leave OKC Thursday morning and arrive in DC around 11am. I'll need to make my way to the Capital to pick up our tickets by 5pm.
One time Enid residents, Dennis and Annette Burgart, live in DC and offered us a place to stay. Without that we would not have been able to find a hotel.
We'll spend all day Friday at the inauguration and parade. I'll try to get as many photos, videos and interviews as I can. The weather looks to be in the high 50's which should be great!
We then blaze out of DC around 11am on Saturday and reach OKC around 7pm.
I'll post as much as I can throughout the trip on Facebook, Instagram and the website.
Thank you all so much!
