A Kidney for Jackie Spooner Wilhoit

Buy Time for Jackie By Buying Her a New Kidney

Ask any of Jackie Spooner Willhoit’s friends or family to describe her and the words you’ll hear are “Compassionate,” “Artistic,” “Gifted photographer,” “fitness fanatic,” “Impeccable,” “Chic,” “Loyal,” “Determined,” “Creative,” “Involved,” and most often, “Loved by all.”

What you won’t hear is “Listless,” “Discouraged,” “Disabled,” “Weakened.”

And yet without a new kidney, Jackie could well become all of those things. You see, Jackie has Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) which she inherited from her father. He died at the age of 45 from a massive stroke, as a result of his disease. PKD is often known as a silent killer because often it goes undetected until it’s too late. In Jackie’s case, she developed symptoms at 36 when her blood pressure was noticeably high. Now 60, Jackie has been able to live a rich, fulfilling life thanks to medication, exercise, diet, an incredibly positive attitude, and the unwavering support of her family and friends.

Unfortunately, Jackie’s kidney function is now at 7% and a kidney transplant is required. She has been on a waiting list for over a year (the average wait time is three years or more and many people die while waiting for a donor kidney.) While dialysis is another option (3 times a week for four hours at a time), a transplant from a living donor will allow Jackie to live a longer, healthier, more normal life.

Time to spend throwing tennis balls to her new puppy Lacey. Planning birthday dinners for her friends. Time to continue creating beautiful home interiors through her decorating business.

Time to see her sons get married. To cradle her first grandchild. To walk the beach with her husband. To count every laugh line as a happy memory.

Kidney transplants don’t come cheap. Especially from living donors as many insurance companies won’t cover the costs for compatibility testing. But that’s where you can help. Your generous donation can provide needed funds for testing, as well as additional costs for the transplant not covered by insurance. Please also consider getting tested to see if you could be a potential match for a Jackie, she need a donor with type O blood. Please send me a message on how to see if you could be a potential match for her.

Ask anyone who knows Jackie to describe her and they’ll say she’s “Wonderful.” And you will be wonderful as well, if you find it in your heart to help this extraordinary woman.

Because you won’t just be buying a kidney, you’ll be buying some very precious time.

Please consider getting tested to see if you are a potential kidney match for Jackie!
