My amazing & courageous twin brother Tim, who has lived in Vietnam for the last 6 years, was diagnosed with intestinal and pancreatic cancer in May 2018. Despite all the efforts of his medical team, in July 2019, just months after becoming a father for the first time, Tim was given the devastating news that his cancer had metastasized and spread to his lungs. He is now at stage 4, incurable, classed as terminal and has between 6 and 24 months left to live. The shining light in all this heartbreak, and the main purpose behind this appeal, is the birth of Tim and Truc’s beautiful daughter, Sophie, in December 2018.
Tim works as a teacher in Vietnam but the aggressive side effects of his treatment has meant he has to minimise his workload.
As the cancer progresses Tim will become weaker, meaning he will soon have to give up work altogether. This will mean the end to his ability to help fund his own treatment.
Tim’s health insurance does not cover the treatment of cancer and healthcare is not free in Vietnam. As a result, Tim and Truc have spent their life savings on treatment. Ongoing treatment is approximately £2000 a month and we know that this treatment is the only way to slow the spread of cancer and hopefully buy Tim more time to spend with his wife and new baby.
Please, please help me raise funds to pay for Tim’s treatment. Your donations could prolong his life enabling him to spend more precious time with Truc and Sophie which will give Truc more memories to share with Sophie when her Daddy is no longer with us.
In an effort to be as transparent as possible, I want to clarify how I will distribute the donations. Vietnam is not currently supported by GoFundMe so the funds will be deposited in the bank account of Tim in the UK. All donations will then be transferred to Tim’s bank account in Vietnam.
