Becky has just turned 12, and she is currently in treatment for a high-grade mast cell tumour. While she is currently healthy and feeling good, mast cell tumours can be unpredictable.
We have had help to cover her immediate bills and treatment, although my pet insurance declined to contribute at all. The thing about long-term illnesses, though, are all the little costs that add up. Medications, supplements, food, gas to drive to treatment once a week, and continuing diagnostics all take their toll.
We had planned for some special occasions this fall before Becky was diagnosed. We want to take her for a last road trip, back to Kamloops where she was born and lived for her first couple of years, and then to see my parents once more. We also want to have some professional family pictures taken: in Becky's 12 years, we've never done nice photos with the four of us.
Rest assured that if we don't raise much money with our campaign that Becky's health care needs will be met. We're just trying to give her, and us, a little something extra while we still can. Thank you so much if you can help us out at all.
