Art on Wheels for the Children of Paradise
ARTIST BRINGS HOPE FOR PARADISE
Welcome! Butte County Art on Wheels is a mobile art studio that will be utilized for conducting art projects with community. My mission is uniting art with community in an all inclusive, supportive, and healing fashion. Each project will use the traveling studio, guest artists displaced/affected by the Campfire as volunteers, and the community in need! Thank you for the support ! #buttestrong
Art on Wheels is for the benefit of the children of Paradise who have been displaced by the Camp Fire. It was created by Jess Mercer, the concept creator and artist of the The Key Project Tribute (#unlockpossibilities) . The "Art Bus"" will travel to the 6 schools where the children of Ridge have been enrolled since the Camp Fire. Detachable murals will be created at each site where students from Paradise Elementary, Intermediate and High Schools are now being taught. Scheduling has begun and 5 schools have agreed to participate to date. We are hoping to reach all even more . Art on Wheels will start collaborating with students and faculty in February, 2019. Murals be completed by the end of the school year. Funds are needed for art supplies, building materials, transportation costs and artist stipend. The Bus has been donated for use by Phoenix Solar Energy . Materials and services have also been donated by Chico Building Company, Walmart, Keller Williams, and numerous local businesses.
This project is near and dear to my heart being a resident of Paradise and a great supporter of the work of Jess Mercer. She is an artist compelled to give back to the community that raised her. After losing her art studio, her family home and her community, she was driven to create art that gives back, supports, and will help the community rise above the ashes left behind on November 8th. Jess and I would be very grateful for your support. #Unlockpossibilities
