Hello, my name is Colton Walker and I am a junior at Portersville Christian School in Portersville, PA. I am pursuing the rank of Eagle Scout within Troop 16 of Butler PA that only 4% of all Boy Scouts achieve.
My project to build a greenhouse will benefit all our great Veterans that utilize the U.S. Veterans Affairs, Butler PA Healthcare. I have always been appreciative of all who have served and enjoy being around our Veterans. I myself am pursuing to serve after high school, through and after college.
I am in the fundraising stage of the project which is estimated to cost $3,500 to complete. The funds raised will be used to furnish this greenhouse and provide potting benches, shelves, hanging baskets and potting soil. A concrete pad will be poured and the greenhouse secured on top, making it wheelchair accessible.My goal is to complete the project by the end of June 2016.
I want to give back and you can too by helping me to provide an additional recreational therapy outlet at the Butler V.A. This is going to be a great addition to their garden area on site and will enable the Veterans to begin their growing season earlier and even pursue other types of plants all year long, not just vegetables, even in the winter months.
Any funds raised above and beyond the project costs will be given to the Butler, V.A. recreation department for their use.
Your support and generosity will be greatly appreciated and is a commitment not just to me but a show of your support for all those that have served and sacrificed for us and our great country.
Also, I have two younger brothers, both of which are in my troop and currently hold the rank of First Class. I hope when they are ready to perform an Eagle Project, they would be able to incorporate a project that enhances and adds to mine and continues to benefit the men and women who served us.
