Buster’s Big Jam

Donation protected
Six weeks ago Buster and I were working in Skagway, Alaska. On his 13th birthday we drove the 125 miles into Canada to an emergency vet in Whitehorse, Yukon. There he was diagnosed with kidney failure, and we were informed that he would need a battery of additional tests. Two days later we had packed everything in the car and were driving back to the Lower 48 to be closer to his regular veterinarian. We arrived back in the Bay Area on Sunday night, and Monday morning he was at his vet’s office. They determined that he is in the beginning stages and can best be treated with diet and regular checkups.

I used up all of my savings getting to Alaska for the summer, but was pleased that I was able to return to my old job just a few days after our return. At the end of my third day back, I (and everyone else there) were informed that the company had just gone out of business and we were now all unemployed. It has take a month but I am now back at work at a new job. Unfortunately, Buster’s vet bills still had to be paid during the time I haven’t been earning an income. Buster is at the vet right now, and I don’t have the funds to bring him home at the end of the day. It will be mid August before my next full paycheck.

In our travels around the US and Canada Buster has garnered a huge contingent known as the BAP, Buster’s Adoring Public. Many of these folks have expressed interest in helping with his vet bills, and I am in a position I can no longer kindly turn down their offers. The goal amount is to cover his veterinary bills for the two months that I have been out of work.

Buster has been my boon companion for over a decade. In that time he has visited 43 US states, 4 Canadian provinces, and the Territory of the Yukon. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of people that only know me as “the guy at the end of Buster’s leash”. Occasionally someone will make a remark about Buster being my sidekick. I always correct that idea, for it is obvious that I am HIS sidekick. For one thing, he is the one with the superpower (If you ask “Buster, are you super cute?”, he will demonstrate that, Yes indeed, he IS super cute).

A big “Thank You” to everyone who can contribute even a few dollars to Buster. You will have our eternal gratitude.
