Geto Boys were the true ghetto of the gangsta rap era, coming from the Houston’s notorious 5th Ward, and putting down tracks about complex social issues of poverty, crime, and war. They were outspoken and brilliantly poetic, messages transcended to all struggling people of the world. The deep lyrical content, experimental jazz, and layered audio samples stand up today as timeless.

Shane Bugbee interviewed the Geto Boys for his zine, Naked Aggression back in the early 1990s. The Chicago based zine covered underground music spanning metal, punk, and rap, anti-establishment rants, political articles, underground comics and art. They will meet again on the stage of the Clinton Street Theater, 27 years later.
