“Did you know that more than a quarter of all kids in grade 6-12 have been bullied according to stopbullying.gov . Bullying is a serious matter but too often it is not being taken seriously enough by adults. It’s time we kids take a stand and push to bring a stop to bullying.
It is NEVER cool to choose to bully. It doesn’t make a person stronger or better to choose to be mean. And it IS a choice. There is much more strength and power in choosing kindness.
If we want our schools to be healthier and safer places to learn - to help put an end to violence in our schools - each of us needs to start with ourselves. We need to learn empathy, compassion, how to deal with disappointment and we need to commit to being kind to eachother.
Together with my friends from TE Middle School, I am hoping to raise enough money to purchase a first print run of 200 8.5x11 window posters that say “Bullying Stops Here, Commit to Kind.” We plan to offer them to all local businesses to put in their storefront windows. My hope is that with reminders all over my town and others, we can together raise awareness that bullying isn’t ok or just “kids will be kids.” It is hurtful and results in tragedy all too often. We must start with ourselves and commit to kind!!!
