Building a Church Reflection Area

I am a Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 30 in Yardley, PA seeking funds to construct my Eagle Project. For my project, I will be creating a prayer and reflection area in the woods adjacent to St. Mark Orthodox Church in Wrightstown, PA. This reflection area will provide the faithful of St. Mark parish and the surrounding community a place for introspection and prayer.
The Boy Scout organization has made a significant impact on me throughout my life. Likewise, my life-long association with St. Mark’s, where I have served as an altar server since the age of 5, is an integral part of my life. It seems right that I show my “Duty to God”, as stated in the Boy Scout oath, as well as my faith and love for my church through the creation of this reflection area.
My team and I will establish a short trail through the woods to a clearing where we will build a wooden shrine, which will house a traditional orthodox icon. We will also place a bench nearby in the clearing. The trail will be marked with short posts and lined with woodchips to help keep it passable throughout the year and more easily accessible for visitors.
To achieve this goal, I am requesting donations for materials such as lumber and other building supplies. The materials and supplies are estimated to cost $650. Any and all donations that you can provide will greatly appreciated and mean a great deal to my church and me. Any funds leftover after the project is complete will be turned over to St. Marks Orthodox Church.
