Building a class for the Maasai

I am running my first half marathon with Lalahe Mollel the co founder of http://volunteermaasai.org & Claire Gordon-Ellis (past volunteer & fundraiser for Idimayii Project 2014) on 15th March (North London Vitality Half Marathon), followed by my first marathon on April 26th (London Marathon). Together, we are raising funds to build a second class for the Maasai community of Lomiyon and we need YOUR help.
The Maasai community are a semi - pastoralist group in Northern Tanzania who have experienced social economic marginalization due to historical land grabbing and the ongoing threats of climate change throughout the region.
The past 25 years have seen a growing demand for education in Maasai regions. Unfortunatley, villages such as Lomiyon do not have access to basic educational services, making it difficult for communiteies to voice their concerns or influence change in Tanzania.
With a very small amount of resources and through the direct participation of community memebrs, young and ambitious Maasai have opened schools, at times starting under a tree, to teach children basic studies. This is the tradtion that the Idimayii School was born into. A small village based edcational initiative working for educational relief in the Lomiyon village of Lake Manyara.
Idimayii School is built on the concept of community participation and control and seeks to develop a hybrid form of education that relies on both Western and indigenous teaching methods.
Last year we built our first class for our pre-primary children and over 60 children between the ages of 3-7 attend classes with full community participation.
With your help we would like to build a second classroom and bring Primary school education to the Maasai community of Lomiyon.
