Build A School For Nepali Children

Donation protected
CURRENT SITUATION:
We want to bring free education to the village of  Chandisthan in Nepal. We have already set up temporary buildings in the form of metal cottages where thirty children are being schooled already today.

The buildings are anything from ideal. A couple of weeks ago a storm destroyed the school. Thus, we would like to build a school constructed of stones, that serves as a long-term solution for the children.

When opening the school we will have five grade: nursery, kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade & 3rd grade. Each class will hold about 12 children, which sums up to 60 children. Each year we will add an additional class.

All subjects will be taught in english except for Nepali. The children will be taught: english, maths, natural science, social science, nepali and general knowledge.

THE SCHOOL

The New Vision Academy will be one of the first private schools in Nepal to provide free education
. Much of the community here in Chandisthan is of the lowest and poorest caste. They are struggling to survive and thus have no money to devote to their childrens education. We provide any school supplies necessary to ensure the poorest children can grow up with a quality education. Pencils, books, bags, textbooks and uniforms are all given for free from the generosity of volunteers and donors.

The New Vision Academy will be one of the first schools in Nepal with a no-hitting policy. All across the country teachers beat the children for making mistakes, disturbing the class or showing up late. Corporal punishment is standard practice. The school is a hitting free zone. Instead of beating children for showing up without a pencil, the school provides a pencil and encourages children to learn without fear of making mistakes.

HOW THE 25.000€ ARE BEING USED

Purchasing the land takes up most of our budget. Since Nepal is regularly haunted by earthquakes, we made the decision to build one storage buildings. The risk of the children getting hurt during an earthquake significantly increases witch two storage buildings.

For our construction we're hiring local workers from the community. Generating jobs & providing locals with an income further supports the community. We've actively made the decision to not hire a big construction company, since we would like to support locals.

We have partnered with a local called Shamsher Thapa. He has experience in building and running schools. We have built a trusting relationship with Shamsher while building classrooms for the Heaven Hill Academy – a school in Nepal we've previously supported. By partnering with him we are able to benefit off of his relationships, knowledge and gain trust when working with Nepalese people, since he is a well trusted person in his community.

That's Shamsher Thapa. He has devoted his life to the poorest children of the community.
When he was a kid, he was in their shoes. Raised in a very poor family he had to look after the goats before and after school, which prevented him from doing his homework. As a result he was beaten by the teachers for not doing his homework.
That's where his motivation comes from for changing the school system in Nepal.

$1 DONATION = $1 FOR THE CHILDREN
We from 264.education, short 264, are a small & lean organization. Consequently we're able to keep administrative costs at the lowest amount possible. We're covering all expenses from administrative nature out of pocket - simply any costs that do not directly contribute to the children.

Your donation of $1 is $1 for the children.

OUR ROLE MODEL: HEAVEN HILL ACADEMY
The Heaven Hill Academy (picture and video below) is a school in Gaunsahar, Nepal, that we have previously supported by building a new classroom for the fourth graders and a kitchen to learn about a healthy and nutritious diet.

The school begins every day with 15 minutes of dancing, Zumba style. Moving creatively to start the day gets the children in a good mindset and shakes out some extra energy so they can focus.

The school fosters creativity. Twice a week the children spend one hour at the library, where they do art and crafts. The children love it – often bringing home paintings or masks to their parents. This concept is totally new to the nepali school system.
