Dear Parents and Teachers,
Welcome to another year at BSGE where we are all working together for the benefit of our students. I wanted to touch on some of the things the PTA was able to accomplish last year and goals that we are working towards this year. During the 2017-2018 School year we collaborated on several events, such as the Dog Show, Winterfest and the BSGE 15th Anniversary Celebration. We supported clubs such as Debate and Robotics along with all the others, paying teacher after-school time. We supported music and sports teams, a teacher celebration at the end of the year, fees for IB exam space and we were recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the #1 High School in New York State and the #9 ranked High School, nationally. We are excited your child is at BSGE and we want them to stay through to College, where BSGE students profit from generous scholarships.
This year we look forward to your involvement in the PTA and the initiatives we are working on such as continuing to support after-school programs, hosting events that are friendly and fun and this year, helping to fund the College Advisor position. This is a position that we, together with Principal Johnson feel is critical to support and is not typically allocated for in a school as small as BSGE. Additionally, the PTA is forming committees that will work on expanding our diversity, reach out to former students, work with other IB Schools and develop strategies to keep our 8th graders in BSGE through to College.
We want everyone to participate this year either with a contribution to the PTA or through volunteering time and energy. Many of you will do both! The BSGE PTA is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Organization and all contributions are tax-deductible. Our target contribution is $700 per family and we would hope that you can double your contribution to help pay for a family that may not be able to make such a contribution. Another way to double your gift is to ask your employer if they will match your tax-deductible gift.
