Stop the Oakwood Hills Power Plant
$30,897 of $75,000 goal
This battle is heating up and we're going to need money to keep it going. In short notice, we need to be prepared to fund attorney's fees and expert testimony, etc.
When this battle was fought in 1999 against Reliant energy's plans for a Peaker plant in Woodstock, a similar sum was raised and used to win the case.
**Unused funds will be handled responsibly, and will be donated to a good cause of my choice and will directly impact the communities affected by this ordeal.**
The Village of Oakwood Hills has received written notice from Enventure Partners LLC and Northland Power Inc. that they have withdrawn their petition for a conditional use permit, text amendment and preliminary plan unit development for the property located at 5110 Valley View Road.
Please consider this message as notice of the cancellation of the continuation of the Public Hearing before the Zoning Board of Appeals scheduled for October 9, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 800 S. Route 31, Crystal Lake, Illinois.
On behalf of the Village Board, we express our appreciation to all of the people who participated in the public hearing processes, disseminated valuable information related to the petition and otherwise created an awareness of the community of Oakwood Hills and all it has to offer its residents and neighbors.
Also, special thanks for the valuable assistance provided by The Waggoner Law Firm.
We have $13,000 in the bank. We have paid $5100 to the attorney, $2500 to fund a study, $1650 for the signs, $1700 in fees to gofundme and $400 for printing, etc.
PLEASE no yelling at the village board members. If you hear someone yelling, ask them to stop. Yelling does not help our cause. Showing up in numbers, wearing red is all we need to accomplish on Thursday. Show the village trustees that we are not going away, even if they continue to pretend that we don't exist!
It would help to ask each of the trustees were they stand on this. Are any of them against it ????
This is INSANITY! First the section 8 housing on First Street and then this??? What is happening to Cary? Are the public officials selling us out? This is RIDICULOUS!!!
Where can I find out the price of the parcel of land Chuck Walneck wants to sell them?
Were we not promised an opportunity to speak at tonights meeting? Can we trust that we will get another opportunity in October? I recall reading in one of the many articles about a payout schedule from the developer to Oakwood Hills but cannot find it anymore. Anybody who can locate it please post it. It appears that Melanie Funk has already emarked the first payout for road improvments on Rawson Bridge Rd.
Ryan, thanks for your summary.! It really helps
