Bryanna's Lupus Recovery

After moving to Philadelphia on her own to pursue her MFA in poetry, Bryanna was hospitalized on October 5 and diagnosed with lupus, an autoimmune disease that occurs when your body's immune system attacks its own organs and tissues. She has been in the hospital for 16 days receiving intensive care to manage complications related to her lupus including seizures, pancreatitis, and chronic pain.

As of today, Bryanna is still in the hospital and does not have a discharge date as her doctors are still evaluating her condition. Tomorrow, October 22, Bryanna's doctors will perform a biopsy to assess whether her lupus has affected her kidney function. We hope that this procedure will help inform an effective recovery plan for Bryanna.
