Jonathan's Journey

Donation protected

Hi, I'm starting this gofundme page for my nephew, Jonathan.  He has Cystic Fibrosis and is currently waiting for a lung transplant.  He has had a very long and difficult journey.   I want to share this journey with you but no better way than  hearing it from Jon's heart.... These are Jon's own words and this is his story...

Hey guys my name is Jonathan I'm 15 years old I just want to tell you about my life. I have cystic fibrosis for those of you that don't know what that is it a chronic lung disease that is caused by a defective gene that affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat, and digestive juices. It causes these fluids to become thick and sticky. They plug up tubes, ducts, and passageways in the body. This causes our lungs and internal organs to be filled with thick. Sticky mucus causing infections to grow in the lungs and causes difficulty to gain weight and absorb vitamins and enzymes from the foods we eat, and also causes difficulty breathing, which requires hospitalizations that include IV antibiotics to help get rid of the infections. I'm in the hospital every month for 2 to 3 weeks sometimes longer a couple of months ago I was in the hospital for two months. About 8 years ago I was really bad and this is what happened 8 years ago to me.
For anyone that knows me, a few years ago I wasn't supposed to get out of the hospital, and now I'm about to graduate 8th grade. If it wasn't for my brother, Stephen, that noticed that there was something wrong with me, and called my mom and dad to tell them that I was acting weird. My mom rushed me to Hackensack hospital and from there I was transported to Morristown hospital. I was in an induced coma for 8 weeks. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Morristown medical center . On this day I just want to say thank you to my family and friends for their faith in me. If you don't believe in god you should start. Let me start by saying my dad put his crucifix by my bed side the first week I was in the coma, after I woke up the crucifix was gone. As someone said to us it did its job. So from that day forward I believe in god and I always think positive. When you are having a bad day never let it get to you, when I saw God he said you are to Young to die, and that I have my whole life ahead. So I would like to thank Doctor Thomas, the nursing staff and Morristown Hospital for getting me to this point in my life. After that when That's when I started to think about the lung transplant more and more has my life goes on. The last couple of years it has been getting worse and now it's at the point where I can't even come off of oxygen and the last three years I always talked about getting a lung transplant and now I'm going to follow my dream and now I'm finally going down to Philadelphia to get evaluated. Yeah I can get rejected for something but I don't look at it like that I'm thinking positive not negative. And for the people that read this I'm not doing this to get likes or anything I'm doing this too show people not to gave up all you need is hope and faith and don't let it get to you. Maybe one day your dream might come true.
