On Sunday 30th December, Broomleys FC and Broomleys CC will come together for a one-off charity Football match to raise money for a new kit for the Football team but more importantly, to raise money for the Hawthorne Center (CMHT) at Broomleys Hospital. Below is a little about the CMHT and what they do.
Who are Broomleys FC
Broomleys FC is a newly formed Football team based in Whitwick, they are building on the already established community platform created by the existing Broomleys Cricket Club and in fact, many of the Cricket Clubs members are players or supporters of the Football Club.
The club has gone from strength to strength this season and has established themselves as a more than competitive team in Division 3 of the Leicester and Charnwood Sunday Football League. The clubs train twice a week and have a squad full of committed and dedicated players.
What does the Hawthorne Center do?
The Adult Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) are made up of Consultant Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Psychologists providing a range of treatments, interventions and assistance to adults (people aged 16-65) suffering from difficulty with their mental health who have been referred by their GPs or other health professionals. The types of illnesses people are referred with include bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, severe depression, personality disorder, dual diagnosis and aspergers/autistic spectrum disorder. People requiring ongoing treatment are seen in clinics, appointments made at CMHT bases and through home visits. There is also a developing group work programme
What can you do?
We ask you to please give as much as you can to this incredibly worthy cause, as you know, mental health is in the spotlight more and more in recent times and for good reason. You can do your bit to help us help them and support your local football club at the same time.
Please give generously or speak to one of the players who will have sponsorship forms for you to fill in. Please also come down on the day as we will be doing lots of other fundraising activities, and of course the match itself.
