Dear Family and Friends,
We would like to introduce you to a very special little man. His name is Maxwell (“Max” for short). He is our son. We do not know him yet. We don’t know his favorite bedtime story, what scares him, or even what his voice sounds like. What we do know is this:
We are adopting Max form Africa. He was born May 3, 2014. Max’s biological mother went into labor, showed up at a clinic, gave a false identity and false contact information, and then gave birth. On the second day, she left the clinic, without baby and without warning. Max was abandoned. No relatives have ever claimed him. He has never known the loving embrace of a mother, or the joy of a piggyback ride from his father. He doesn’t know what it’s like to be tucked in and kissed goodnight by either.
We cannot wait to bring Max home and give him all of these experiences and more. We are anxiously awaiting the chance to hold him in our arms, and provide a hand for him as he grows. And we can’t wait to see him experience the joy of having siblings! Max deserves to have a childhood. He is worthy of love. We feel so honored to be the family to give it to him. No words can capture the excitement we feel as we anticipate the blessing of his presence in our home.
We would like to invite you to be a part of our adoption, and of Max’s coming home story. First, we need prayer. We ask that you pray for Max’s stability, security and health. We also urge you to pray for Ava and Ella, as they prepare their hearts (and their playroom!) for their little brother.
Second, we ask that you give financially if you are able. The cost to bring Max home will total $40,850. We are contributing as much of our personal funds as possible. However, Max’s situation is urgent and thus the entire cash funds will be due almost immediately - much sooner than the traditional adoption! The police and social workers have already searched for biological family members that may have rights or desires to keep Max and their efforts have proved fruitless. Our attorney believes Max could get court approval very soon.
We are confident that God wants Max to be in a home where he hears the truth of Jesus, where he is loved, cared for, nourished and enriched. We are honored to open our family to Max, and we trust that God will move mountains to bring our son home.
