Bringing Home A Brother

$16,895 of $38,000 goal

Raised by 31 people in 26 months
This is really Bringing Home A Brother, the sequel.  We are the Humphreys Family!!! Jason and I have been blessed with two absolutely amazing bilogical children Jaxon and Ella. In 2015 we adopted our middle son Maxen from China and he has been an amazing blessing to our family. All of our children have hemophilia.  (Hemophilia is a rare bleeding disorder in which the blood doesn't clot normally. If you have hemophilia, you may bleed for a longer time than others after an injury. You also may bleed inside your body (internally), especially in your joints and muscles.)

When we stepped out in faith to adopt our son Maxen it was a journey like no other. The limit to which our faith in God was tested, and watching Him again and again provide a way to bring our son home was like nothing we have ever experienced. We did not have the funds set aside to adopt the first time but God provided just enough at just the right time for every step of the process. This adoption to bring home our other son is starting out very similar.

This little boy is one who's face we have seen since we first started the adoption of our son Maxen. What makes him stand out is he also has hemophilia like our other 3 children. We have seen other boys with hemophilia up for adoption come and go from the listings. They have found families and many are already home. In March we felt led to pray for this little boy, to pray fervently for his family to find him and bring him home. No one was coming forward...... Why...... He is our son! He has been waiting for us! We are stepping out in faith that God will again provide for our family as we listed to his calling to adopt.

Our son is living in an orphanage in China with hemophilia, but not receiving the needed medical care to treat his bleeding disorder. He just turned 10 years old. He has spent a decade without a family to care for him. A decade in an orphanage with no one to give him the love and attention every child deserves. A decade without medical care for a very serious and often life threatenig condition. I see the pain our other boys have with the effects from their hemophilia. We have seen first hand how detrimental a lack of treatment can be when be brought Maxen home from China. (We was so weak, anemic, and his joints so damaged he couldn't walk 10 feet) We are now working very hard to bring our other son home, home to his family, home to the medical care he needs.

We have begun the long process of paperwork and waiting, along with finding the funds to bring him home. This has again happened very quickly, and we are reaching out to our family and friends to help us bring Mason home!!! The cost is estimated around $38,000. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers! We know this will be a long journey, and we appreciate all your love and support. We have faith that God will make a way to bring Mason home.

Please help us bring our son home!!!!

Just a little update as to where we are today. We can pick up Mason on November 19th!!!! That's less than 2 weeks away from now!!!!! We need to book our tickets but can't until we can raise enough to book them. We need $3,185 for our flights, we need $1,229 for our rooms. We can't complete our travel arrangements until we have our flights booked and our room to confirm when we arrive to China and where we are staying. Our time is counting down to leave on the 16th please be praying that all things fall into place and we can get everything done before we leave. Please pray for safe travels and that Mason will do well through all of this transition.

This time last year we were working hard to gather shoes and complete the first half of our shoe drive. It was amazingly successful and the support from everyone was and has continued to be a blessing. We are about $10,000 away from having all we need to pick up Mason in China. I know the most frequently asked question is when will we bring him home. We hope to travel by the middle to the end of November!!!!!! There have been so many hopeful dates for us to reach our goals of paying fees and getting paperwork processed, we are so thankful to be so close to finally bringing Mason home. The last funds we need are for our travel and the orphanage donation. The donation will be $6,000 which is nothing in comparison to what they have provided for our son over the past 10 years while he has lived in the orphanage. It is something we feel fortunate enough to give and will do all we can to quickly raise the money for the donation as well as what we will need for travel. Hotel cost is about $150 a night ($2,100) and we will be gone for 2 weeks to get the adoption completed and Mason's paperwork finalized. It takes that long to finalize everything so he can enter the US and finally be home. Then we will also have our flights to China (2 round trip tickets, and 1 one way ticket -$2,000+ ish). It all adds up quickly! In all we have paid about $25,000 so far and that is nothing short of a miracle. We did not start out this adoption because we knew we had everything lined up and paid for to do so. We stepped out in faith to answer God's call for our family to grow. We have faith He will continue to provide as He has every step of this journey. Our latest update on Mason says that he has a bleed in his knee which he has had since August. He is barley able to walk at this point and the obvious welling and pain with movement is heartbreaking to see in his video. We are trusting things will be completed and we will have all that we need to travel in about a month from now and bring Mason home to our family and the medical care he is needing. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we prepare things at home for his arrival and for Jaxon, Maxen, and Ella as they anxiously await the arrival of their new brother. Please pray that God keeps a protecting hand on Mason and opens his heart to meet us and begin a whole new life.

We have had an incredible amount of stuff going on the last couple of months. Our shoe drive is keeping us very busy and we were able to reach our October 31 goal of 7,500 pairs of shoes. We are on to our second half goal of another 7,500 pairs. The other event keeping us very busy is planning for our Paw Patrol meet & greet and craft fair. We are one week away and working hard on all the little details to make sure it is a success. Hopefully with these events we will be able to get our paperwork moving again and soon off to China. There is another large amount of fees due and we will be able to move our paperwork along once these have been paid. Stay tuned for more updates and be sure to like our FB page Bringing Home A Brother to follow all of our progress there. https://www.facebook.com/bringinghomeabrother/

It has been a pretty overwhelming month. So much has gone on and we have been extremely busy. First we had a fantastic yard sale fundraiser at the beginning of July raising $2,000. So many wonderful friends came and helped us through the heat and humidity. We wouldn't have pulled it together without all of their help.
Next on our agenda was to host a Corn Hole tournament. However things didn't quite pan out like we had planed. We didn't have enough teams to set up so we had to cancel the event. To say it was upsetting is an understatement. We so hoped this would be our next big fundraiser to help us bring Mason home. Lots of tears and prayers happened over the course of a few days. We had to had it over to God and have faith that He had a plan for us.
We ended up with an amazing opportunity to hold a meet and greet event with characters from Paw Patrol. So in just 10 days we changed our plans completely and held an unbelievable fundraiser event for Mason. There is no way it should have been the success it was given the short amount of time we had to make all of our plans. Let me just tell you our God is awesome and He guided every minute of the day. We had so many family and friends come out to help us!!! They made desserts for our concession stands, helped us set up, decorate, haul food and drinks for the concessions. They came to wear the costumes all day, work the concessions, sell tickets, park cars, and clean up and tear down. It was just overwhelming all the people who came to help us. The day was wonderful and everyone had a great time. We just can not thank everyone enough for all their help and hard work. We ended up raising $4,200 for Mason's adoption. I have still been very overwhelmed by it all and it has taken a while to just let things sink in. So many people have helped, so many people want to see Mason home with us, its just hard to describe how that makes my Mama heart feel. We love our son already, even though he is half a world away he is ours. The process of adoption and all the fees that come along with that can be so overwhelming. We have faith that God has set us on this journey for a reason and will see us to the end. At times our faith is shaken and we begin to grow tired, then God shows up in a big way like he did last weekend with a flashing sign!!! We are following His will, and we need to be patient and ready to listen as He leads us!!!
