Igor Pitangui needs our support.
Known for soulful and expressive dancing, Igor is a professional west coast swing dancer, instructor, and choreographer from Brazil. Igor is acclaimed for his ability to compete at a high level as both lead and follow. In both roles, Igor brings a nuance and expressiveness that can communicate the full range of human emotions.
Why does he need our support?
The culture in Brazil is changing. Opportunities are disappearing for minorities. It becomes harder and harder to stay safe or make a living as an artist, an activist, black, or gay.
Igor is all of these.
Here’s the cool part:
Igor has the opportunity to relocate and have the freedom to continue his life and dance. This will be through either 1) a job with District Dance Academy in Clearwater, Florida or 2) a job in the European dance community.
Here’s the hard part:
A work visa is very expensive in either case. And because of Igor’s situation, it is important that the application be submitted by an expert immigration lawyer. And that kind of lawyer is expensive, far more than Igor could ever afford on his own and beyond what a dance studio can provide.
We need to move quickly if we want Igor to have the chance at a new life.
The Goal: $12k
The money is covering the following expenses:
$2k: The Work Visa Application Fee
$10k: Lawyer Fees.
