Hello precious friends and family,
We wanted to give you an update since the US denied Jalil’s Humanitarian Parole into the United States. Jarison and I immediately began searching for other options and God has made a way! When we became Jalil's parents 4 years ago, we made a promise to never give up on him while leaving no stone unturned to keep our family together. In our search for answers, God has provided an amazing International Adoption Agency along our journey who is willing to work with Honduras!!! Our Attorney in Honduras and our caseworker at Nightlite here in the states have a plan in place and feel confidant Jalil’s adoption will be approved!! As many of you know, my age has been our biggest obstacle, but our Attorney found a loop hole that as long as we’ve been married for 3 years (which as of MAY 13th, we have been) then we can move forward with the adoption as long as just one of us are 25!!! And Jarison is!! So the past couple months we’ve been working diligently on gathering paperwork, completing our application, and paying our first 2 of many payments. We are now well into the process and we are so happy to share with you all that this is finally, really happening! We are going to bring our sweet boy home! We still have a long road ahead of us, but we continue to seek God’s guidance every step of the way.
We are so grateful for those of you who have continued to pray for our family. You will never know how much that means to us knowing that you’re all still lifting our family up in prayer. It has been soooo incredibly hard being away from Jalil. We FaceTime every chance we get but unfortunately we’re usually at the mercy of whether they can get any phone reception that day in the Miskito coast or whether their generator was working to charge the phone. There is nothing we love more than seeing Jalil’s sweet face until it’s time to say goodbye which often ends in tears and Jalil asking "Mommy and Daddy, when are you coming to get me?” It’s soooo hard explaining all of this to a 5 year old but he knows Mommy and Daddy are working so hard!
We truly want to thank all of you for your ongoing love and support! We are so blessed to have such amazing people in our lives. We have a very lengthy and expensive process before us, and while we’ve been able to make the last couple installments, the upcoming payments are substantial amounts and needed more frequently in order to keep the process moving! We have been apart much too long already that we don’t want to do anything to slow this down. So we’re trying to come up with some creative fundraising ideas to help cover the adoption costs! Nightline Adoption Agency stated the average International adoption costs $26,775-$36,025 so we need to sell a lot of t-shirts, bracelets and fundraisers on go fund me in our continued prayer to #BringJalilHome❤️
