Bring Hagrid Home

After surviving on the streets of Lesvos, Hagrid was found in July 2018 severely malnourished and almost hairless by the charity Eresos for Animals.
When I went to volunteer dog walk for the charity while on holiday in September I fell in love with Hagrid and could not believe his story.
Such a gentle giant of a dog, treated so badly and so lucky to be found as he was close to death.
Most big dogs in Lesvos found roaming the streets are poisoned as people are fearful of them.
He is truly like the gentle giant of the Harry Potter World and would not hurt a fly.
Big adult dogs are hard for the charity to find homes for. After all, the puppies are so cute.
Still I made a vow to Hagrid that I would get him to his forever home with Tinna and I both ready to give him all the love he could ever need.
All was set. A plane to Amsterdam. A ferry to the UK.
Then, a few days before we hit a snag.
Most likely due to past trauma of being caged Hagrid would not accept his crate. The airline would not take him.
We were devastated as were the incredible volunteers at the charity.
We were left looking at new leads, collars and toys, but no Hagrid.
But, there is a way.
Ferry to mainland Europe and then a mighty road trip before a further ferry into Dover UK where we will be waiting.
Sadly this massively increases costs. The professional pet courier Animal Couriers is very kindly doing us a charity rate, but due to the distance this is still £800 from Athens to the UK.
They do one run a year and it is on the 11th of November.
If we exceed our target any additional funds will go directly to Eresos for Animals to help them continue to save dogs like Hagrid.
