Bring Eric's family home

Donation protected

Hello. My name is Eric Harlan. I am raising money to help bring my family home. ( The photo at the top is the last time I got to see my son and fiancee in person.  He was 2 years old at the time).  In 2009, I met the love of my life, my fiancee, Yajaira Morel Hernandez. We decided after a short time, that we wanted to get married and raise a family together. We got a head start on the family part. Our wonderful son Yamil was born in July of 2010. He was born three and a half weeks early so, I was not there for his birth. As soon as I got the news, I made plans to go and get my family and bring them home to the U.S. However, when I went to Costa Rica to get my family, I experienced the unexpected. The registry department refused to release Yamil's birth certificate so, I could obtain a passport for him in order to bring he and Yajaira home. So, for almost 6 years, I battled with the Costa Rican government and registry department to get my son's birth certificate released. After $12,000, 4 attorneys, and no shortage of hardships, Yajaira and I finally got Yamil's birth certificate. ( The people that with held his birth certificate are in prison now for their corruption ).
This battle, has drained all of our finances. We have been paying double bills in both countries, as well as all medical expenses up front since Yajaira is not a Costa Rican citizen. Non citizens pay up front for all services. Yamil and Yajaira both had asthma. Yajaira is diabetic. In the U.S., neither of those ailments are too expensive to deal with. In Costa Rica, their medicines are 5 times the cost of the U.S. . Yajaira also has another wonderful son named José.  He lives in the Dominican Republic, where Yajaira is from.   They have been separated for many years as well.  Because of complications between the governments of Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, Yajaira has been unable to bring her other son, José to live with her.  She could return to the Dominican Republic at any time, just not allowed to take our son,Yamil with her.  Yajaira and I have been working and working, trying to bring our family together, with no avail. With the lack of great medical care in Costa Rica for non citizens, Yajaira has missed months of work due to sickness from her diabetes and the doctor's inability to correctly prescribe medicines to treat her condition. Each time we start to move forward, there is another event, that takes all of our savings to deal with. A few days ago, my Jeep broke down. Now, it seems as though the one thing that has kept us going, my ability to get to work has failed. ( However, I am working 6 to 7 days a week.  Just have to hitch hike to work and home every day.  I can deal with it but, it's hard to take care of your family without reliable transportation.) Now, once again our world is falling apart.  Please, help us put it all back together. This one act of generosity can bring us together and help end our crisis.  Just by having all of our family members together, we can reduce our bills and experiences to one third of what they are now.  And that, is something we can work with.   Our family is divided among 3 countries.  Please, help! Be the difference!  Any donation towards our goal will help. May God bless you and greatly reward you for any assistance you may lend.
