The Lowell Philharmonic is a community non-profit orchestra made up of all volunteer semi professional and hobbyist musicians. Since 1987 the Lowell Philharmonic has brought music to the people of Lowell and its surrounding communities.
Our goal is to make live classical music available to those who would otherwise be unable to attend either by lack of transportation or because of lack of funds.
The Lowell Philharmonic actively engages in the community by providing comp tickets for every concert cycle to local organizations and encourage student involvement through our annual string play in. We also offer a free concert every summer at Shedd Park!!
The orchestra has struggled for years to keep up with the rising cost of renting venues, purchasing music, paying our conductor, and hiring musicians when needed. In the past we have had generous donors but those donations have stopped coming and we are struggling to keep the orchestra running.
We have been working hard to get a loyal following to become self sustaining but in order to do this we need extra funds to help us acquire the tools to become a successful orchestra our upcoming 2018-2019 concert season which begins September of 2018.

Here is how the funds will be broken down. $5,000 will go to purchasing new functional percussion equipment. $6,000 will go to purchasing music to expand our library. (YES music costs THAT much. One set of professional orchestra parts can run upwards of $500!) $2,000 will go to promotions and marketing and the last $2,000 will go to the general funds of the orchestra.
By expanding our marketing, filling our library with sets of new music, and having funds for all our costs it will greatly help us attract new patrons and help us get on the road to self reliance.
We hope to continue to serve Lowell and the surrounding communities by continuing to share our music for years to come and will be EXTREMELY grateful for any contributions large or small.
