*February 17th 2017 UPDATE*-
We met with the veterinarian this morning and I've been given the go ahead to fly Bemis home tomorrow. He is mostly healthy but his teeth are in really horrible condition. Because of that I'm going to have to continue seeking donations, I've called a few vets in my area and they are all estimating it to cost at least $1200. Please continue to share! I truly appreciate it!
*February 15th 2017 UPDATE*
I am flying this weekend to bring Bemis back home after all of these years. I understand that I am choosing to go get him, and that the expenses are my responsibility. I'm simply asking for a little help with everything because the cost for the flight for myself, the flight for him, his medical expenses to fly, hotel and car rental are far more than what I had in my savings account. Any little bit helps, please spread the word!

From February 13th, 2017:
I have had tears streaming down my face since 3:30 this afternoon. I received a letter in the mail today from a company who tracks down the owners of animals with microchips so that they can be reunited with their families.
Bemis was stolen from us over 7 years ago and my heart never felt the same way since. He was my first baby, and it crushed both Donavonand myself when we didn't find him. We spent countless hours looking, and I admit we had given up hope, that was until today.
The letter I received today contained a phone number to call so that they could get me in contact with the person who found him. Within 15 minutes I was speaking to the amazing woman who, out of the vast kindness of her heart, had kept him safe and cared for him since December of last year. She was trying to find us all that time, and today we finally spoke.
I fly out on Friday to get my baby back, I cannot control my emotions right now as I anticipate this incredible day that is to come. You know, you hear these miracle stories about people who get their missing pets back after years apart and you think, 'That'll never happen to me," but my God, it has! Tracy (the woman who found him and has looked for him since December) is a guardian angel and I will never be able to thank her for everything she has done for me and for our dog.
