Bearfight FC was formed in August of 2013 at Stoney's British Pub in Wilmington, DE by three people, Eric Shertz, Justin Lee, and Jeremy Sharpe, with the idea of building a member owned, member run soccer club. We drew inspiration from clubs like FC United of Manchester, AFC Wimbledon, and Bohemain FC of Dublin, Ireland.
After three and a half years of playing soccer in the Senior Division of the Intercounty Soccer League in suburban Philadelphia, PA, Bearfight FC is ready to take the next step in promoting member supported, member owned soccer in the United States. Welcome to Bring UPSL to Wilmington, DE. This campaign is your chance to become a part of Bearfight FC.
What is your membership drive goal?
Our 2017 goal is to gain 2000 new members and raise $20,000 for the club.
Where will Bearfight FC be spending the money raised in this membership drive?
In our continued mission to develop soccer in Wilmington, DE, this member drive has been started to build a solid member base and prove what we already know: that supporter ownership can be a reality in the United States. We also want to show that you can ascend the US Soccer pyramid through this model. The money raised in our 2017 member drive will be used to BRING UPSL TO WILMINGTON, DE, USA. United Premier Soccer League, or UPSL, is a national amateur soccer league expanding to the northeastern United States. We want to bring UPSL to Wilmington to give our players and our supporters the club that they deserve and a chance to compete on a national stage in a league that we feel matches up with our values.
