Bring Back Our Mountain Fund

Since its formation in 2013, the Moosehead Lake Region Economic Development Corporation (MLREDC), a non-profit 501(c)3 tax exempt organization, has been focused on the economic development of the Moosehead Lake Region. A key component of any development effort in the region is the redevelopment and operation of the Big Moose Mountain Ski Area. It offers an experience unlike any other ski area in Maine. The viability of the ski area is essential for the success of the region’s renewed focus on a tourism and outdoor recreation economy.
Since the State of Maine filed the lawsuit against the owner of the ski area, in 2016, for failure to comply with public benefit servitudes in its deed, the MLREDC has supported the case because the success of the State’s efforts will have a direct beneficial impact on the economic health of the Moosehead Lake Region. The MLREDC uses donations from persons who wish to contribute to this effort to cover related costs. At this time these costs are related primarily to the legal efforts of the law firm which is representing Piscataquis County and the interests of MLREDC in the case. The law firm also works with and assists the State of Maine Attorney General’s Office in important aspects of the case. The case is now at a critical stage and continued funding is needed now in order to advance the case to a successful conclusion.

MLREDC and are tax deductible within IRS guidelines. The MLREDC will make disbursements upon submission and review of detailed descriptions of activities and costs.
