While Brian was on his return trip to California, days after performing the final show of his independent "Kindness Of Strangers Solo Acoustic Tour" (which has taken his music across the country over the past 13 months), he lost control of our little Honda and hit the center divider on the Will Rodgers turnpike from Tulsa to Oklahoma City.  The day before the trip we had brand new tires put on the car and replaced a CV boot which seemed to unfortunately cause the car to pull to the left. Brian's first hand account of the accident is as follows:  "I was used to the way the car handled prior to getting it repaired and as a result, while I was reaching for a bottle of water that had fallen below the passenger seat, the car pulled hard to the left and before I knew it, hit the center divider at 70MPH (the speed limit). I caught air and flipped, landing on the roof and sliding across two lanes, finally grinding to a stop in a ditch. There was crumpled metal and broken glass all around me. I managed to climb out from under the wreckage with some scrapes and minor cuts, but otherwise unscathed. By all accounts I should be in a coma, or seriously injured but somehow I'm not. I'm alive and only enduring some pain in my back, neck and knee (now that the adrenaline has worn off). I lost my glasses (they must've flew off of my face while in zero G) and of course the Kindness of Strangers tour vehicle (and my only form of transportation) is totaled." To recover the costs to get Brian airfare back to the west coast (where he has a job working crew at The Dickens Christmas Fair in San Francisco) and maybe even replace his iconic round wire rimmed glasses, we are setting up this Go Fund Me page.  Another way to show support for Brian is to make a donation to his Kindness of Strangers Tour, via paypal at http://briantravis.com or order a CD on the "STORE" page of his website. Sales of his music directly support his efforts in this difficult time. Many thanks and much respect to all. The most important thing for folks to know in all of this is that Brian is alive and safe, and we are grateful for any help.

Hi folks,

I just wanted to update everyone on what's going on with the accident. I'm doing much better (still pulling shards of glass out of my ears!) but the car is of course no longer drivable and had to be left with the wrecker in Oklahoma. Many people have advised that I get a medical expert to check me out. At the time of my accident I opted not to go to take an ambulance ride to the hospital because of my lack of funds. As a musician I do not have any health insurance whatsoever, so Cam and I decided to raise the fund limit a little so that I can afford to get checked out to make sure that I am 100% okay. Being able to see a doctor and maybe even a chiropractor for treatment would be a real blessing. I'm overwhelemed and humbled that the support is flooding in and I wanted to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for donating.

I've written a more detailed account of the accident and posted it to my blog. I needed to write about it while the experience was still fresh. If you would like to read that, copy and paste this link into your browser:

Thanks again to all of you for all of the love and for showing up for me when I need it the most. I'm humbled and honored and so very very grateful.
