Brian's Dental issue from Cancer

I am asking for help for my son, Brian Duty.  Brian is 33 years old and I am asking for your help with his dental issues.  Currently all of his upper teeth need to be pulled and most likely will need partials for the bottom.  He used to have beautiful teeth and was happy to smile. Now he no longer smiles because of the condition of my teeth.

The dentists estimate that it will take between $35,000 to $40,000 to fix this issue.

The story on how he got here may help you understand his current predicament.

In June of 2013, he was helping us building a new house when took a face plant into a pile of rocks. He just remembered stepping over a ditch and nothing else. The next day he looked like this.
Then in January of 2014, I he was helping me on the house when he had a full blown seizure.  He was transported by ambulance to the hospital. The hospital they did a CT scan but didn’t see anything unusual.

Then in August of 2015 he had another seizure, fell and dislocated his shoulder and was again taken by ambulance to the hospital.

This time they did an MRI and found out Brian has brain cancer. The type he has is inoperable.  They did do a needle biopsy and the Mayo Clinic confirmed the type of cancer is an Anaplastic Astrocytoma grade III.  This is very rare, roughly 0.44 out of 100,000 are diagnosed with this type of cancer.

We now believe that the face plant in June 2013, was most likely an undiagnosed seizure.

He was released from the hospital and went through 43 days of radiation 5 days a week and chemo therapy at the same time.  He was then on an addition chemo regiment for the next year.  He finished his last round of chemo in October of last year.

His last MRI in December showed no changes.  No change is good!

The effects of the radiation and chemo caused the spot from the biopsy to fill with fluid and he now has a large area in his brain that is now occupied by this “water balloon”. The cancer is the grey foggy areas.

The effects of the radiation to his brain combined with the chemo drugs have essentially destroyed his teeth and gums.

He is currently on social security disability and has Medicaid coverage. Unfortunately, Medicaid will not cover the needed dental work.

Because of his brain cancer, he struggles with short term memory and would not be able to hold down a job.

I am retired and his mother is still working but we do not have the financial resources to be able to fund this type of procedure.  We would love to see Brian smile again, eat regular food and no longer be in pain from his rotted teeth.

Thank you for taking the time to read his story.

Prayers are always welcome.
