I am doing this gofund me page on behalf of my 30 year old cousin Brian. The money raised is to buy anything he needs to help him.
Brian was diagnosed at the age of 5 years old with Hodgkinsons disease this was treated with radiotherapy, At the age of 15 he was then diagnosed with Thyroid cancer at this point he was misdiagnosed, at 17 the cancer was confirmed which then resulted in Brian's thyroid being removed, At 21 the cancer returned to the lymph nodes in the neck these were removed at age 21, At 23 a be-nine lymph node was removed from right side of neck. In 2016 It was noticed Brians thyroid levels in his blood had jumped and cancer returned yet again, this time it had metastasized to his wind pipe, ribs and collarbone and in left lung, Brian was put into a radiation room for a few days to see if the cancer would respond, this was part successful as the wind pipe, lung responded but the others didnt, this was identified as radiation resisitant, In the October it was diagnosed the cancer had grown on the ribs and then spread to the spinal cord of the lower verterbrae radiotherapy was introduced in Novemeber as well as Chemotherapy, During this time Brian became really sick, At new years he was rushed into hospital with a perforated bowel which meant emergency surgery had to happen in order to keep him alive, the large bowel was removed, Pathology report shown that the radiotherapy had shrunk the bowel so nothing could pass through only water, Brian was very lucky that they managed to tie the ends to the small bowel which meant no cholostomy bag needed. January 2017 Brian was given a prognosis initially of 3months to live as the cancer was showing that it was still growing and not responded to treatment as he came home we got him back on his feet and he started to get better, at the end of january there were scans which showed tumours werent as bad as they thought and they started the chemotherapy again, Feb 2017 scan was done on the whole body which showed a tumour on the base of the skull, they investogated further and found there were 10 tumours in the brain, Brian underwent cyber-knife therapy on these tumours which meant hair loss, also radiotherapy was performed to the spine and ribs as these had grown in size,, Brian has been told he maybe a good candidate for clinical trials of Lenvima whch we are waiting for the doctors and pharmecutual company to get back to us to see if Brian would be eligible. Through the last 6 months, Brian has had to give up his business he started in making be spoke metal furniture and being able to do the normal every day things due to limited mobility.. The things he wants to do he just cant and it does impact on his quality of life, I know the one thing he really wants to do is own his own house out in the country which we are trying to save for a deposit to get us a house that can be made to be accessible for him, we have tired to get help from the local council with no success as there is a shortage of homes suitable, All we want to do is make the time we have left the best it can be.
My daughter Kara Turner is going to be doing a sponsered hair cut to raise as much money as possible so brian can have the best chance of fighting this and achieve his dreams.
