SUPPORT FOR BRENDA, ESTELA, and MARIA — FAMILY #16

Immigrant Families Together is a movement to help families separated by ICE. With grassroots effort and community donations, we have successfully bonded out Yeni Gonzalez and she's held her kids again ( https://nyti.ms/2lRD7jy). We have been able to do the same for several other families - you can read more about us and our success stories here: https://immigrantfamiliestogether.com/press. However, there  is unfortunately a long line of families waiting desperately to be together again.

Brenda, Estela, and Maria’s family is the 16th we are helping. The sisters are currently detained at an ICE facility in Arizona. They CAN be released and we're determined to them her, working in conjunction with their attorney, to be released.

Any funds raised beyond the goal will be used to reunite other families.

WHO WE ARE

Immigrant Families Together is a network of Americans committed to rapid response aid of families separated by ICE. We have mobilized to help families currently detained through the following immediate actions:

1. Raising of bond funds through coordinated crowdfunding and individual giving in order to post bond for families separated from their children at the US/Mexico Border.

2. Paying bonds and providing or coordinating pro bono legal representation to fulfill legal responsibilities while awaiting trial so that they may be with their children.

3. Arranging safe transportation from state of detention to the city where they are relocating.

4. When needed, finding long-term housing in the destination city while they await trial.

5. Connecting parents in cities with resources in order to sustain them during the process of being unified with their children.

6. Working with local organizations and government to expedite the process of achieving full custody of their children while they await trial.

7. We are creating a toolkit to allow other concerned citizens to replicate our model in order to help bring parents back to their children across the country as quickly as possible.

8. Providing sustaining funds for the family while they await their trial and the completion of the process, in accordance with federal poverty guidelines, as these women can’t legally pursue work for at least 5 months.

WHERE WE ARE FROM

Across the United States

HOW THE FUNDS WILL BE USED

We will be paying  the sisters’ expenses related to their release, transport from Arizona, and paying for their accommodations, food, cell phone, and other expenses, as well as providing them with support to attend appointments.

HOW WE ARE RELATED TO THE BENEFICIARIES

We are not related to the sisters or their attorney by blood. We are a community of concerned parents and citizens who don't support the current separation policy and want to do our part to help Brenda, Estela, and Maria.

HOW WILL WE BE HANDLING THE FUNDS

We will withdraw all donated funds to Julie, the leader/organizer/founder of Immigrant Families Together. They will then be transferred to their attorney or  the sisters. Expenses to be paid include: Expenses related to release, transportation from Eloy, Arizona, lodging, food, local transportation, cell-phone, and other expenses they may incur as part of their release, including but not limited to costs of preparing for their court appearances (copies of documents, etc).

GRUPO DE AYUDA PARA BRENDA, ESTELA & MARIA -Familia #16
