Breidi and Jason Toney- Terminal Illness (vCJD)

Donation protected
Friends and Loved Ones,

This past week, a dear friend of mine who is like family and his wife- Jason and Breidi Toney, received some tragic news.  Breidi has been diagnosed with an extremely rare, degenerative brain disease called Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob (vCJD) disease.  Only about 350 people are diagnosed with vCJD each year.  It is a rapidly progressive and terminal disease for which there is no cure.  Treatment of vCJD remains supportive, and no specific therapy has been shown to stop the progression of this heartbreaking disease.

On Friday, surrounded by the Toney-Donohoo family, Jason and Breidi broke the news to their children- Ellen (16), Heath (11), and Mallory (6), that their mother would be in heaven within 6-12 months.  As you can imagine, they are completely devastated.

After hearing the news from Jason's brother Jeremy, I immediately wanted to help this precious family out in anyway possible.  I thought of how the "Make-a-Wish" foundation grants special trips to children with terminal cancer and illness, and the idea to send them on the trip of a lifetime came to me.  I wanted to create a fundraiser to not only raise funds to send them on one last memorable trip together as a family, but to help alleviate some of the medical costs that are already being incurred.  I've reached out to Jeremy Toney (Jason's brother) and he informed me that Disneyworld has always been a dream of Breidi's to take her children to.  My goal in this is for the kids to have happy, beautiful memories and pictures of their last days with their mother while she is still able.  Sadly, time is of the essence.  Breidi attended Easter Sunday at church in a wheelchair.

To those who are just learning of this, the family has been trying to reach out to as many as possible, but it has been difficult.  I've been given permission to share their story and to let you all know that if you have any questions, please contact Jason's brother Jeremy Toney via FB messenger and he will respond to you as soon as possible.

Above all, I would ask that you please keep the family in your prayers.  This disease is rapidly progressive and the months ahead will be the most difficult they have ever had to face.  If you feel led by the Lord to donate, I can assure that all proceeds will go directly to the family.  Breidi Toney is a sweet, loving mother and her biggest fear in life has been leaving her children without a mother.  Mothering has never been a job for her, just a natural joy and honor.  She has endless patience and is never too busy to answer questions, listen to stories, explain why, or to give hugs and snuggles.  She is loving, nurturing, protective and has only ever wanted her children to feel deeply loved and cared for.  She herself lost her own mother while she was in high school, so this is especially difficult for her knowing that she will be leaving behind her 3 beautiful children.  I thank you for your prayers and for your consideration.
