Breau Family Medical Expenses

Over the last 2 and a half years, Michelle has gone through a considerable struggle with her health. She has seen dozens of doctors, Naturopaths and specialists, and while she has made progress, there is still an underlying condition that has not been diagnosed through conventional medicine. Despite the fact that 17 blood tests in the past year and a half all show there is something VERY wrong, and there are still significant symptoms felt physically every day (occasional spans of blindness, chronic eye pain, pain in the kidneys and liver, low platelets, chronic digestive issues, low white blood cells, an enlarged spleen, a high albumin/creatinine ratio, abdominopelvic pain, etc), her conventional doctor argues that she is "fine." 

We have certainly made strides from the place we were last August, but something is still very wrong and we need to connect with a practitioner who understands the testing we need to find a real answer. 

At this point, we as a family have decided to take the matter into our own hands. We have found a functional medicine practitioner based out of Mississauga who believes in doing comprehensive testing and who will create a very unique and individualized protocol once the root cause is discovered. They will be testing via stool tests, an organic acids test and a dutch hormone panel to check for possible viral and bacterial infections will cost $1921.00.

One reason we chose this practitioner is because they require an entire year of commitment. This unfortunately means a very large medical bill of $3388.00 upfront, but it also means THEY will commit to US for the entire year. They will not only do an extremely in-depth look for the root-cause of this condition, but they will create a very intensive, individualized protocol that we can follow for the long-term and hopefully see Michelle regain full health after an extremely long battle. 

We believe (and pray) that this is our final stop. We have spent thousands of dollars seeking answers to this mystery over the last 2 years. Michelle's doctor also put her off work for 4 months as we watched her get very sick (to a point where her liver, kidneys and spleen were showing signs of near sepsis), and yet because we can't diagnose the root cause of what happened, her insurance was declined for this time. We appealed it 3 times because it was very clear she was fighting something, but without anything but a slew of abnormal blood tests, endoscopy, multiple ultrasounds and a very persistent personal letter from the family doctor that helplessly observed Michelle's health take this rapid decline, we still have no "official" diagnosis. The financial expense of seeking answers has been tremendous, so we are asking for your help.

In the past several years, we as a family have had to fight and advocate for Michelle's life in ways that you would not imagine. We eventually took it upon ourselves to find help with other practitioners. Finding this doctor has placed a very real glimmer of hope in our lives that perhaps this next year could be our year of healing.

In total, we are seeking your help in raising enough to cover the medical appointments and the testing - All of which our practitioner requires upfront in order to get started this month. The total bill is $5309.00.
