Breaking Boundaries

#READ ME: The campaign is set up so that any funds raised can be used straight away.  The target would mean the project is free to all for the next year, but anything raised up to that allows us to give targeted free places to certain people, e.g. Children's homes and people we identify as struggling to raise £2 per week. Thank you, you can donate in confidence that all the proceeds go into people benefiting from the project.

You can now donate in crypto currenciues to the following addresses:

Break-For-Life Breaking Boundaries Hip Hop project started in three locations, Newbury, Basingstoke and Winchester.  We have until April on the current funding plus funds raised here.  An application is in for the next year to obtain two thirds of the funding through the Arts Council.  At the moment the remaining third is collected from the participants via a small session fee (£2). However, we know that no matter how small an amount this may seem to some of us, there are still people who are excluded by the requirement to pay any amount.

The project is providing a total of just under 300 hours of teaching, through weekly sessions and focused workshops.  Break-For-Life delivers education in all elements of Hip Hop culture.  We cover Breaking in a weekly session and DJ-ing, Emceeing, Popping, Locking, Beatbox and Graffiti at focused workshops and larger scale events.  The students will also be introduced to fitness advice covering exercise, conditioning and nutrition.  Hip Hop is a worldwide culture that offers a feeling of community, inclusion, self-worth and purpose, travel, competition, and a plethora of social connection opportunities across the globe.  This makes it an ideal past time to focus young minds.

The outgoings are for costs such as the hall hire in each location, insurance, marketing and of course to pay the artists to teach.  If we can raise this last third of the budget the sessions will become completely free to all.

For us this is more than just passing on skills and knowledge, the long-term benefits of being involved in Hip Hop culture will impact many areas of our students lives, particularly an increase in focus and confidence, having a positive effect on social skills, family relationships, academic achievement, career goals and much more!

Please message us at the Break-For-Life Facebook page with any questions about the project.

Thank you
